Hello, curious reader.
I am Samuel, the author of this blog. I write La Ventana Muerta from Segovia (Spain) and try to combine it with the studies of the 2nd year of Bachillerato that I am studying in the engineering branch (mathematics, physics, biology). I really like computing since I saw the first computer. If you want to know more about how I ended up writing this blog, read on.
That’s how it all started
I started with an interest in computers, well, more like games. In 386 my father played bad games (compared to current ones).
In that Windows 3.1 I became interested in games like the Golden Ax (which after spending so much time with friends, caught a virus and my computer broke).
My father bought in 2001 a normal computer (for his time). A Pentium 4 at 1.4 Ghz, 256mb of RAM and a graphics card of just 32mb.
With this team I enjoyed as a child titles like Age of Empires (I and II) and little else. Back then he had a Gameboy Color with the Pokémon Yellow game (Pokémon fashion, which was going to be done). Later I bought the Pokémon Silver game, but it turned out to be a fake game and it ended up messing up after a few months. That’s when it all started.
The adventure begins
Pissed off at losing my favorite game, I wondered if there was any way to play it somewhere else, for example on the computer.
I searched the internet (something new for me) and words like “roms” or “emulators” started to linger in my mind.
I got it, I was playing Gameboy Color games on my computer, and without paying anything. It was then that I understood that the PC was made to offer free “things”. Then my ideas were clarified when I knew that having a “rom” on the PC for more than 24 hours was a crime. But I said to myself: “And who is going to know if I have it, or not?”
So I kept getting informed about topics such as console emulation, the cracks needed to play “not original” games, and I even made a web page (it was a blank page with links to files on my computer and animated gifs of Pikachu, all done without having any idea of html, on the Frontpage) that did not come out of the “My Documents” folder.
And I evolved
Or rather, I changed the chip. I took the Pokémon out of my head (not entirely) and made a hole for the new ideas and concepts that came out on the web. I focused on learning more about what was being talked about on the sites I entered.
Then hackers came to mind. I was reading a lot about it, and I definitely understood that it was a path I didn’t really want to take. But to calm my desire to learn, I read tutorials on Cracking techniques. What I had used so many times, I could now use to my advantage. After learning four basic little things I went straight to removing the protection of a 3d pool game I used to play. After trying it in so many ways, I got it. He stopped asking me for the code needed to register it and the 30-day trial period became eternal. Also, since I was tired of watching the game in English, I translated it into Spanish.
From cracking I went to wireless technology. We bought a laptop with Wi-Fi and from the beginning I was curious about the waves. I took several walks around the house looking for networks to connect to, but there were only 1 and with a password. So I decided to create networks in my house. I bought a USB Wi-Fi for the desktop computer and began to experiment making networks, with a password, without it, sharing folders, configuring IP’s and other tricks.
I managed to set up a network (without password or encryption, due to problems with spontaneous disconnections) between the laptop and the desktop.
Me with the laptop in my room and my brother with the desktop in his, we played Counter Strike, Age of Empires 2, Warcraft 3, Sacred and little else.
But then, out of curiosity or because I wanted to have the internet to see what was outside my computer, I again tracked the air in my plaza, and found an open network. I could’nt believe it! I quickly connected and found that yes, there was internet. Hallelujah!
Once with free internet I started to enter all kinds of sites, some talked about technology, others about games, some about humor and many about nonsense that did not interest me.
I learned how to make websites, but since I didn’t have much time to learn html, I used Dreamweaver. And with it I made my first web page. In it there were funny videos and the programs that I used the most (in case I needed to install them on another computer with the Internet), cool images and music.
At first it was very bland, it was missing beautiful things that I saw on other websites and I wanted to have them on mine. Then I started looking for templates, which, it seemed, gave you the structure of your website already made. I adapted the contents to the template and modified the logo, which I had to learn with a well-known program but that I didn’t know how to use, Photoshop.
One day I asked myself:
Can I earn money with my website? A few euros couldn’t hurt … Money mouth
So I searched and found. Google Adsense. Everyone said he was the best and blablabla. After all the necessary steps it was time to insert the advertising code on my website. After inserting the code by hand in all the pages of my website (many Annoyed unfortunately) I began to see how Furious did not gain anything. In high school I told everyone to hit my ads and install the firefox browser. So I made a few pennies, but then the Adsense letter came.
Blablabla account is canceled blablabla suspicious clicks blablabla see you later.
And there was my short monetary history Money mouth on Internet Laughing. I had to remove the code from ALL the pages and I ended up fed up thinking about never modifying the web again.
Beware of easy passwords …
I lived happily: free internet, I had a website and I was learning a lot of things. What more could a 15 year old boy want.
But some weeks after the summer of 2006 I entered my website to see how it was and …………
And that gay porn photo on my website ???????????
I pissed off
Someone guessed the password for my free hosting account (in Iespana) and changed the main page of my website, placing a pornographic image in the header. At first I was scared and I modified it, but within hours it came out again.
Of course, I had all the files on the web on my computer, where I retouched them and such, so I finally decided to delete the account.
Some time later I discovered that there was a function in the control panel to change the password ………….. Good morning! Furious
I uploaded my website to another account and looked for another name for it, but since I couldn’t think of any, I put it: I am not looking for more.
